There’s a misconception about Southwest Houston, the same one that gets attached to a lot of zip codes, that wealth is isolated and success is only available to the lucky ones. That drive & grit is somehow tied to a resume, a college degree, or the neighborhood you grew up in.

We don’t believe that. And frankly, we’ve built a company around proving it wrong.

We’re Next Up Talent, a Texas-based sales and marketing company that believes in the power of real conversations. In a world crowded with ads, emails, and endless scrolling, real human connection still cuts through the noise – and that’s exactly why some of the nation’s biggest brands trust us to represent them and grow their customer base.

Houston was recently named one of the best cities in the country for starting a business, a reminder that opportunity here isn’t reserved for the boardroom. It’s built by people willing to bet on themselves, one conversation at a time.

But this isn’t a post about what we do for our clients. It’s about what we do for our people.

Do you have a dream?

Something you’ve wanted to build, achieve, or become – but never had the door opened for you?

Here’s the thing: it’s rarely ambition that’s missing. It’s access. It’s someone willing to bet on you before you’ve “proven” yourself on paper.

A resume can tell someone where you’ve been. It can’t tell them how hard you’re willing to work, how fast you learn, or what you’re capable of when someone finally gives you a shot.

That’s the gap we exist to close.

This isn’t a handout. It’s a meritocracy.

We don’t hire based on your degree, your last job title, or your background. We hire based on drive.

That might sound simple, but it’s a genuine shift from how most companies operate. Here, grit and hustle aren’t just nice qualities to have; they’re the actual currency. What you’ve achieved elsewhere matters less than what you’re willing to put in from day one. And what you get out of it is directly tied to what you put in. We expect you to earn it, and we’ll back you the entire way.

What the opportunity actually looks like

Rooted in Texas grit and hospitality, we bring energy, authenticity, and measurable results to every campaign we run, and that same energy goes into developing our people.

Our mentorship program isn’t a buzzword on a careers page. It’s hands-on, ongoing, and built around real people investing real time in your growth. Through it, you’ll learn the skills that matter in any career: how to communicate with confidence, how to build resilience, how to lead a team, and how to turn a conversation into results.

These aren’t skills that expire when you leave a role; they’re the foundation for whatever you decide to build next, whether that’s climbing further with us or eventually running something of your own.

Progression here isn’t about how long you’ve been in the building. It’s about performance. Show up, do the work, and the path forward is there for you to take.

Real people. Real growth.

Don’t just take our word for it. Take Thomas Harrison’s.

Before he became our Corporate Trainer, Thomas built his foundation somewhere unexpected: on a college football field. The discipline, accountability, and teamwork he learned there stuck with him long after he left the sport, he’s said that mentality of preparation and execution carries straight over into sales.

From there, he moved through a string of fast-paced jobs, from busy kitchens to luxury retail, all rewarding in their own way, but none quite scratching the itch to compete, lead, and grow.

That’s what brought him to Next Up Talent, a place built on the idea of “growth through performance.” Today, as Corporate Trainer, he’s the one shaping the next wave of the team, drawing on his background in sports and leadership to mentor with an emphasis on discipline, adaptability, and strategic thinking. For Thomas, leadership isn’t about directing people, it’s about creating a clear path for others to rise alongside him.

These aren’t outliers. They’re what’s possible when someone with drive gets a real opportunity and a mentor who’s invested in their success.

Who this is for

This is for the person who’s been overlooked by a resume screen, by a lack of connections, by circumstances that had nothing to do with what they’re capable of.

It doesn’t matter where you’re starting from. What matters is whether you’re ready to put in the work.

Success is possible. We’ll help you get there.

If you’ve got the drive, we’ve got the opportunity and the mentorship to help you make the most of it.
